Kiwico crates - first impressions

While searching around on the net a month or so ago I came across a company called KiwiCo. They do age appropriate boxes of fun activities to promote STEAM (previously stem, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) from 0 to 104 (according to their site). You can get individual crates or a monthly subscription. The concept looked great so I ordered a 12 month subscription.

A week or two ago Kieran's first KiwiCo create arrived and we worked together today to make it.

The instructions are very simple to follow, all the parts are pre cut and there were spares of parts as well. So no worries about losing one little piece. Most of it, Kieran was able to do on his own with just a little guidance from me (he is still not fully able to follow the instructions himself but they are simple enough that I am sure within too much time he will be able to do it all himself).

Today we made a working claw and some fuzzy critters to pick up in the claw. It was a lot of fun and both him and I are looking forward to the next crate. There is also an activity book that comes inside that includes other simple to do activities based around the theme of the crate and some drawing/colouring activities as well.

Highly recommended.
